Temple Emanu-El "Arguing with God: The Theology of Elie Wiesel"

Posted

Dr. Claire E. Sufrin, Assistant Director of Jewish Studies at Northwestern University, will deliver this year's annual Judaic Studies Lecture at Temple Emanu-El, endowed by Peter and Judith Romney Wegner, z"l.

Dr. Sufrin will speak about Arguing With God: The Theology of Elie Wiesel. Dr. Sufrin will discuss the literary works of Elie Wiesel (1928-2016), a young survivor of Auschwitz who dedicated his life to making sure the world knew about the horrors of the Holocaust. By considering both the form and content of Wiesel's literary works, we will draw out his ways of thinking about God.

All are welcome to join us in the Sanctuary Service for Dr. Sufrin's d'var Torah (at aprx. 11:30am), a special kiddush lunch at noon, and her post-lunch lecture (at aprx. 12:45pm).
