SHAWNEE MISSION, KAN. – Lester Chafetz Ph.D., formerly of Overland Park, Kansas, died July 23 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Kansas.
A native of Providence and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was a distinguished research scientist who loved his family, chamber music, the University of Wisconsin and a good joke.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Chafetz; two children, Jill Chafetz, Ph.D., and Glenn Chafetz, Ph.D.; two grandchildren; and many friends. He was predeceased by brothers, Joseph Chafetz and Prof. Sidney Chafetz.
